Vigo and the Federation reach a closer relationship after the controversy over the selection of World Cup venues.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has invited the city of Vigo to work together to compete for the 2030 World Cup host city.

According to the RFEF, the working meeting was held at the federation's headquarters. The meeting was attended by its general director, Manuel Lalinde ; its board member and legal advisor, Beatriz Seijo ; and its director of international relations and new director of the 2030 World Cup organization, Eduard Dervishaj .

Representatives of the RFEF answered all the questions raised by the Vigo City Council delegation, to the extent permitted by the duty of confidentiality and protection of data belonging to the other World Cup candidate cities, in line with the RFEF's commitment to transparency that governs the institution.

On behalf of the Spanish football governing body, Betariz Seijo emphasized that they "answered all the questions posed to us during the meeting. We are in a new era in which we want to do things well and with transparency," while Manuel Lalinde emphasized that "the RFEF has reached out to the Vigo City Council to work together so that both the Galician city and Valencia can ultimately host the World Cup."

Finally, the Royal Spanish Football Federation offered the Vigo City Council delegation its willingness to continue working together if the Galician council considers the possibility of proposing FIFA to host the 2030 World Cup, in the same way that, as the president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán , has repeatedly expressed, will be done in the case of the city of Valencia.

Abel Caballero , Mayor of Vigo, positively valued this offer from the RFEF, stating at the end of the meeting at the Ciudad del Fútbol that he appreciated "the convenience of trying to move forward together towards the objective of Vigo finally hosting the World Cup. We have been informed of this, and Vigo is the one that most desires it. In this regard, we offer our full cooperation."

All of this, without the eventual option of adding these cities to the tournament being, in any case, detrimental to any of the 11 host cities already included in the bid book submitted to FIFA.

In this regard, the RFEF recalled that the final selection of the tournament's venues is and always has been the exclusive responsibility of FIFA, which will ultimately decide which cities will host the 2030 World Cup.
