Brazil's Supreme Court Justices will reject former President Bolsonaro's appeal of his prison sentence. According to sources, a majority of the Supreme Court justices involved voted to deny the appeal. The official announcement will be made in a week.
The former president (2019-2022) has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for plotting a coup to remain in power after his election defeat.
Bolsonaro's lawyers allege there are "ambiguities, incompleteness and contradictions" in a previous Supreme Court ruling that found him guilty of attempting to oust President Lula da Silva.
The right-wing Bolsonaro cannot be imprisoned until all legal remedies have been exhausted. The 70-year-old is under house arrest.
