FC Barcelona wants to extend Frenkie de Jong's contract quickly. "Rest assured, because we want to continue together," said chairman Joan Laporta in an interview with TV3. "His situation is urgent for us."
The 28-year-old De Jong has been playing for FC Barcelona since 2019. His contract expires at the end of next season. Laporta said he considers midfielders De Jong and Pedri very important for the game the Spanish champions want to play.
Laporta also wants to extend the contracts of Raphinha and Iñigo Martínez. A long-term contract is ready for Lamine Yamal. "The only thing missing is his signature," Laporta said of the winger who celebrates his eighteenth birthday on July 13. "His new salary must match his role in our team."
