Trump-Putin meeting over, no agreement on Ukraine

After about two and a half hours of closed-door talks, Trump, Putin, and their entourage concluded their discussions. Shortly afterward, the two leaders held a short press conference, in which little was revealed about what exactly had been discussed.
Watch here how the leaders reacted to the press conference, and how Putin invited Trump to another summit:
The Russian president began the press conference saying he had had a "constructive" conversation with the US president.
Putin praised Trump and their "good direct contact," adding that he agrees with Trump on ensuring Ukraine's security and that Moscow is "ready to work on this." Putin offered no further details.
Trump, like his Russian counterpart, praised Putin and said he had "always had a fantastic relationship." The US president said that while there is no agreement yet on Ukraine, "progress has been made."
CeasefireTrump went on to say that there are "just a few" issues that need to be resolved, without giving any indication of what those issues might be. He may have been referring to his commitment to a ceasefire, which he himself had previously stated was a priority. "Some of them aren't that important," Trump said. "One is probably the most important, but we have a very good chance of working it out."
En route to Alaska, Trump told reporters he would not be happy if the talks did not result in a ceasefire, as seen in the video below:
He said he would call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his NATO allies after the press conference. Before the talks, Trump had promised not to promise Putin anything, for example, Ukrainian territory, outside of Zelensky and the European leaders. "There's no deal until there's a deal," Trump said. "Ultimately, it's up to them."
Neither Trump nor Putin answered questions afterward, despite having been announced.
Trump shocked"President Donald Trump is keeping his mouth shut and trying to give the impression that it was a successful meeting," US correspondent Erik Mouthaan responded to the meeting.
"I think Trump was shocked by how difficult it was to make a deal with Putin. It's difficult to estimate, but I think it didn't go as smoothly as Trump had hoped and that it was a difficult conversation. The fact that he doesn't elaborate on what was discussed does indicate that the real progress has been less than expected. After all, Trump had promised a breakthrough in the peace process before the conversation, and that doesn't seem to have materialized," Mouthaan said.
Afterward, Trump also spoke with Fox News' Sean Hannity, but even there, he remained tight-lipped. "I found that really striking. Even in the familiar environment of Fox News, where he's never asked a critical question, he says nothing about the friction in the conversation with Putin."
Second meeting in MoscowAt the closing of the press conference, Putin half-jokingly said that their next meeting would take place in Moscow, to which Trump replied: "I can see it happening."
Trump has repeatedly indicated in recent days that he wants a second meeting after the Alaska summit. Neither leader announced that a second meeting would actually take place before they left the room.
