Ukrainian mother and daughter murdered in Belgium, house set on fire

A 46-year-old Ukrainian mother and her 6-year-old daughter were killed in Haasrode, Belgium. Both victims had stab wounds and their home was set on fire. The Leuven court has opened an investigation into the double murder and the fire.

This is what the Belgian VRT NWS writes. The fire brigade reportedly received a report yesterday at 09:30 of the house on fire on the Milsestraat in Haasrode. Several emergency services arrived at the scene and when the fire was under control around 10:20 and the apartment was searched, the fire brigade found the two victims.

Girl resuscitated

The mother had already died at that time, but the daughter was still alive. The girl was resuscitated, but eventually died as well, VRT NWS reports. Stab wounds were discovered in both victims.

Fire department experts reported that the fire in the house was deliberately started.

The woman and daughter are part of a Ukrainian family that had been living in Belgium for three years. The father is currently fighting on the front in Ukraine. The woman also had a sixteen-year-old son who was at school at the time of the murder. The boy is being cared for.
