"Police Officer" Fraud: 14-Year-Old Detained

"Police Officer" Fraud: 14-Year-Old Detained

On Friday, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Włocławek boasted about a successful operation. Officers who deal with crime against property - in cooperation with detectives from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz - determined that residents of Warsaw - aged 14 and 25 - may have something to do with two fraud cases.

First they captured a young, underage girl. Then a man.

Włocławek. A 14-year-old girl was allegedly involved in a fraud using the “policeman” method

The 14-year-old was in Kutno County on June 2. The officers allegedly found several dozen thousand euros and jewelry on her. However, the property of significant value did not belong to her, but to a 75-year-old resident of Włocławek. As the police determined, the girl was supposed to act as a so-called "collector" (a person planted by fraudsters, whose task is to collect money from a manipulated victim). The funds were supposed to be a bail for the services to release the 75-year-old's son from custody - for allegedly causing a road accident (such an event never happened, of course).

Two days later – on Wednesday – the officers located the 25-year-old. This “collector” allegedly took money from an 82-year-old resident of Kujawy and Pomerania to buy medicine. The fraudsters convinced the victim that her daughter was in very poor health and needed money for convalescence, which was made up. This crime was supposed to have taken place at the end of May.

"The minor was taken to a police shelter for children, while the man was taken to police custody," reports the press team from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Włocławek. The officers report that investigators will soon "transfer the materials to the family court in her place of residence, which will make further decisions in her case."

Kujawy and Pomerania. There are charges against the 25-year-old

As for the 25-year-old, "after the detectives gathered evidence, the detained 25-year-old was brought to the prosecutor's office." "The man has been charged with fraud and could face a prison sentence of up to eight years. The prosecutor has applied police supervision to the suspect," we read.

"Investigators are working on the case and determining whether both individuals are also connected to other similar crimes," we learn from the police note.
