The organization, which has been upholding Jewish traditions and commemorating the history of Polish Jews for decades, will soon celebrate an important anniversary. For this occasion, the Szczecin branch of TSKŻ has prepared an interesting celebration program.

One of the events that will accompany the anniversary will be a mini-reunion of the March 68 emigrants. It will take place at the beginning of September, and 70 people have declared their participation.

– Our organization is the only one that has been operating continuously and under the same banner since 1950. Despite the ethnic policy adopted by the Polish state towards the Jewish minority, which resulted in the tragedy of March '68 - TSKŻ, it has been operating to this day – says Róża Król, chairwoman of the Social and Cultural Society of Jews, Szczecin Branch. – It is particularly important to us that our colleagues, despite their age, still want to visit our city and celebrate the anniversary together – emphasizes the chairwoman.

TSKŻ, in addition to the mini-reunion'68, is also planning other accompanying activities: lectures, educational and cultural events. It is also preparing a publication dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the society. There will be no shortage of artistic events - these will be poetry and music meetings dedicated to Eliasz Rajzman - poet and TSKŻ activist, Paweł Gruenspan - composer and long-time member of TSKŻ and the outstanding poet Anna Frajlich.

There are also plans for trips to Jewish memorial sites.

The Szczecin branch of the Szczecin Social and Cultural Society of Jews was established in 1950. It was headed by the Jewish poet Hadasa Rubin. One of the organization's goals at that time was to promote internationalism, patriotism and to combat nationalism and Zionism among the Jewish population. TSKŻ was a secular organization. From the beginning of its activity, it provided an opportunity to meet Jewish culture and language. In the 1950s, the activities of TSKŻ were also directed at young people, and a separate youth section was established. At that time, a big beat band of the heirs to the throne was established in Szczecin. The society's activities focused primarily on Jewish culture: organizing celebrations of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, meetings around the classics of Jewish literature, etc. In the years 1967-1969, an anti-Semitic campaign caused many Szczecin Jews, including TSKŻ members, to emigrate from Poland. The society's activities were severely limited at that time. Eliasz Rajzman contributed to its revival. In 1989 Mikołaj Rozen became the president of TSKŻ, and Róża Król became the secretary, which brought a huge change in the organization's activities. The current chairwoman Róża Król organizes many scientific, artistic and popularizing initiatives promoting the history of Jews.©℗
