A breakthrough in Polish artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Digital Affairs has announced a revolution

President Andrzej Duda announced on Polsat News that he had spoken with the US administration about removing restrictions on Poland's ability to purchase processors needed to develop technology based on artificial intelligence.
This is the aftermath of the scandal that broke out after Joe Biden's officials included Poland on the list of countries with restrictions on the purchase of specialized American chips.
- I spoke with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, who committed that this matter will be resolved. I also spoke to President Donald Trump about this. I think we can expect a change in this decision soon - said the president.
Polish AI. US imposes restrictions on access to chipsRadosław Maćkiewicz, director of the Central Informatics Center , spoke on Tuesday on Polsat News about how important it is for the development of Polish artificial intelligence (AI) that we are not put in the second row by the United States when it comes to access to chips, and for him the decision of the Americans is perceived as "incomprehensible".

- Of course, here and now there is no risk that these limits will be used , but we would like to be in the first group as an ally of the USA and without limits when it comes to the supply of chips for processing, for AI purposes, because as a country we want to develop this technology, we want the beneficiaries of these technologies to be not only citizens, but also the military sector , which can also contribute a lot to Poland's security in cyberspace - explained the COI director.
COI Director: We want the family of Polish language models to growAsked whether and when Poland is at risk of using up the granted limits, Maćkiewicz pointed out that they may change depending on the development of technology, hence it is better to look at how to use the Polish language models that are being created.
- Yesterday, at the conference of the Minister of Digital Affairs, financial support and development of the Polish language model PLLuM (a family of artificial intelligence models that allows processing and generating texts in Polish - ed.) was announced, COI joined the consortium, and a language model developed by the society called "Bielik" also joined - he said.

- We want this family of Polish language models to grow, for PLLuM to be a leader in the area of public administration , for other language models to join, for us all to be able to use these technologies that are emerging, and for us as a country to ensure that this knowledge and technologies are developed in Poland - he explained.
Radosław Maćkiewicz also emphasized that processors are crucial especially for the development of these language models, because the solutions we are currently talking about are dedicated to two areas.
- One area is training, i.e. building new language models and improving those that already exist, and the second area is the production use of these language models, i.e. we want to use solutions such as PLLuM in public administration, on the gov.pl multiportal websites or in the mObywatel application - he specified.
