The head of education, Krzysztof Żychski, argued that Racibórz's institutions still have great potential.
"We have our comfort assured," he stated. He added, however, that the number of children in schools and preschools is steadily decreasing . Councilor Dawid Wacławczyk commented on these words. "The city is extremely well-stocked in terms of educational offerings," Nowiny.pl quotes.
Wacławczyk asked whether the city had a prepared strategy for the crisis. Vice Mayor Michał Kuliga assured that the situation was being constantly analyzed.
We see a decline in student numbers, a decline in birth rates, and rising educational costs. In two years, it will be even worse, as there will be even fewer children . Are we preparing a strategic document? You could say we're working on something like that.
- explained Kuliga.
The Mayor of Racibórz has prepared a motion to increase spending on educationCouncilors didn't hide their impatience. "We've got everything figured out. The analysis is simple. It's time to consider the network of facilities. A year and a half of the term has passed; how much time can we spend analyzing this? Costs are only rising," Wacławczyk said.
Kuliga replied that decisions cannot be made lightly. "It's not just about the number of chairs; the social dimension is important," he explained.
Councilor Ludmiła Nowacka, quoted by the website, reminded the public that the council deals with the annual report, not the education strategy, but also requested data and forecasts. "That's why I'm requesting this information," emphasized the chairwoman of the education committee.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Racibórz has prepared a motion to increase spending on education :
- PLN 15.6 million for primary schools,
- PLN 1.92 million for subsidies for non-public kindergartens,
- PLN 2.15 million for subsidies for non-public primary schools.
In total, this amounts to over PLN 19 million, which the city will have to partially finance with a loan, Nowiny.pl reports.
