Chase and crash. Escape from the police ended... in a tree
The incident is not only a reminder of the consequences of irresponsible driving, but also a warning to potential criminals. The perpetrators, young men, will now face trial, and the 20-year-old behind the wheel could spend up to 5 years behind bars.
Last Wednesday evening, police officers from Jaworzno received a report of a stolen vehicle. Shortly afterwards, on the streets of the Szczakowa and Góra Piachu districts, officers spotted a stolen Fiat. Despite the light and sound signals, the driver of the vehicle ignored the call to stop and began to flee, which ended tragically.
The fleeing driver, losing control of the vehicle, hit a tree. As a result of the incident, both he and his 17-year-old passenger were detained by the police. The young men who stole the car that same day now have to reckon with the serious consequences of their actions.
Alcohol behind the wheel. Dangerous per mille and a court finaleA sobriety test showed that the 20-year-old driver was intoxicated - he had almost 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. On Friday, February 21, 2025, both perpetrators heard the charges. The driver will also be held responsible for failing to stop for a police check and driving while intoxicated. The court may sentence him to up to 5 years in prison.
