Difficult conditions on trails in the Beskids. GOPR rescuers warn of danger
The snow cover in the mountains is varied: on Markowe Szczawiny it is 30 cm, on Hala Miziowa 45 cm, and in the peak parts of Babia Góra 50 cm. On Babia Góra the first level of avalanche danger is in force, which means that avalanches can occur with a large additional load on steep slopes. The yellow Perć Akademików trail is closed.
Tourists planning to hike in the Beskids should take care of proper preparation. Warm clothing and crampons are essential due to icy conditions. It is also recommended to charge your phone and install the "Rescue" application. It is worth taking a power bank and a flashlight. The time to walk the routes may be longer than indicated by maps, so you should not go on the trail alone.
Despite the difficult conditions on the trails, the skiing conditions in the Beskids are very good. Cable cars are operating, which attracts winter sports enthusiasts. In the event of an accident in the mountains, you can call GOPR by calling the free emergency number: 985 or 601 100 300.
