Elon Musk Announces New Political Party in the US. 'He Will Give You Back Your Freedom'
As Americans celebrated Independence Day on July 4, Elon Musk asked Internet users whether they supported the creation of a new political party in the United States.
“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say one-party) system. Should we create a Party of America?” he wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform he owns.

"By a vote of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you will get it!" he wrote on X. "When it comes to bankrupting our country through waste and corruption, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy," he assessed.
“Today, the Party of America is being formed to give you back your freedom,” declared Elon Musk, without giving further details.
“A Big Beautiful Bill.” Donald Trump Managed to Push His Bill Through CongressThe decision to establish the America Party was announced after U.S. President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which fulfills some of his campaign promises, including cutting taxes, reducing social spending and increasing funding to combat illegal immigration.
The bill received the support of Congress - on July 1, the Senate adopted it by a vote of 51 to 50 (Vice President JD Vance cast the deciding vote), and on July 3 - the House of Representatives (218 votes in favor, 214 against).
Most Republicans supported the bill pushed by Trump - three dissented in the Senate (Thom Tillis, Rand Paul and Susan Collins) and two in the House of Representatives (Brian Fitzpatrick and Thomas Massie).
Trump called the passage of the bill by Congress his greatest success. Reservations against the "big beautiful bill" were raised not only by Democratic Party politicians, who voted to reject the bill in the parliament, but also by some Republicans. Some critics had doubts about the cuts in the Medicaid social welfare program, others feared a further increase in the US deficit.

One of the bill’s opponents was Elon Musk, who spent hundreds of millions of dollars on Trump’s election campaign and after Trump’s victory, became head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was supposed to reduce unnecessary regulations, eliminate redundant government jobs, and save the federal budget trillions. Musk’s mission as a “special government employee” ended after 130 days.
Elon Musk and Donald Trump have parted ways, and their dispute has become public. The Tesla CEO called the president's "beautiful bill" a "disgusting abomination" that will lead to a significant increase in the budget deficit . The billionaire argued that the bill's adoption would lead to an increase in the deficit "from an already crazy $2 trillion under (Joe's presidency - ed.) Biden to $2.5 trillion," which, in his opinion, would bankrupt the United States. Musk also criticized Trump for his alleged "ingrate" after the 2024 election, spoke in favor of supporting the call for Trump's impeachment, and even suggested that the current president's name was in the so-called Epstein files, which would be the reason why the Trump administration is not releasing documents related to this scandal (he later withdrew this claim).

In recent days, Musk's dispute with Trump has flared up again. The businessman has threatened to start a new political party, and the president has warned that Musk's companies could lose billions in subsidies.
Reuters reported that Republicans expressed concerns that Musk's ongoing conflicts with Trump could hurt their chances of maintaining a majority after the next election.
US Election 2026 What is Elon Musk's plan?In 2026, the United States will hold elections (the so-called midterms), during which the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate will be elected. Asked whether he plans to carry out the action during the upcoming elections or in 2028, Elon Musk replied on X that he is thinking about next year.
“The way we will break the one-party system is to use a variant of how Epaminondas dispelled the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra,” he wrote, adding that he meant using “an extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.”

On Friday, Elon Musk announced that initially, this tactic could consist of supporting the Party of America's candidates in two or three Senate races and eight to 10 House races in the 2026 Congressional elections. Given the minimal differences in passing laws, he assessed, "this would be enough to have a decisive vote on controversial bills, ensuring that they were in line with the true will of the people," he said.
At the time of publication of this article, Elon Musk had not submitted the documents required to register the new party.
