European fashion giant creates new company. It's a solution to one of the industry's problems
The Germans announced the launch of a new company called Eightyards, based in the German city of Metzingen near Stuttgart. It is to deal with the reuse of textiles that were created in Hugo Boss factories. This applies to both used materials and new ones that are lying around in warehouses.
The company says it intends to “set a new standard in resource utilization,” reads the official Hugo Boss press release announcing the launch of Eightyards. The company is headed by two former Hugo Boss employees – Markéta Miltenberger and Placido Klitzke.
The Eightyards company will be responsible for, among other things, recycling textiles from the German brandHugo Boss announces that Eightyards will sell its textiles to companies other than just the fashion industry. The Germans also announce that they will reuse the materials for their own needs.
Eightyards will also recycle, upcycle and downcycle its own textiles. This is how new products will be created that will be available for purchase. Eightyards will produce clothes, bags, pen cases and pillows, among other things. Customers will also be able to place an order for the production of specific products according to their own design.

"We have access to high-quality, additional materials that have been acquired in accordance with ESG standards. This is our resource that we want to use for our customers," explains Markéta Miltenberger in an official Hugo Boss press release.
“Our goal is to stimulate cross-industry collaboration with partners outside the fashion sector,” adds the company’s director. Over the next few years, the company aims to become a leader in the textile processing sector for reuse.
