Festivals, murals and kites – a joyful start to summer

Colorful kites, the scent of herbs and a mural of a heron and a crane – this is how summer was welcomed in the Oborniki Śląskie commune. Residents had fun during family festivals, culinary competitions and creative workshops.
On Saturday, July 5, summer was welcomed in Nizinie, Morzęcin Wielki and Oborniki Śląskie. In Niziny, summer greeted the residents in a truly unique way. During the festival organized to start the holidays, a ceremonial unveiling of a mural took place, which from now on will be the hallmark of the town. On the wall at the entrance from Rościsławice, images of a heron and a crane appeared - the work of Ola Czudżak. The artist's works quickly gained the status of a local symbol - their miniatures were used on commemorative pins, which were given to the author of the mural and distinguished guests, among whom were, among others, Deputy Mayor Hubert Ozimina and Councilor Beata Jadwińska. The awards were presented by the village head Anna Stadtmüller.
The picnic was full of attractions. Tables full of food, entertainment for children, aromatic workshops with herbs and scents led by Istota Lasu, as well as a stand of the Forest District were prepared for the participants. Two cauldrons heated over a campfire were waiting for true gourmets. A ride in a fire truck was also a great joy for the children - a surprise prepared by the OSP Uraz. All this in the beautiful, green scenery of the summer open air.
Meanwhile, in Morzęcin Wielki, summer began on a grand scale – colourfully and... high. Kite Day attracted children and adults, who together with Grandpa Rys created their own wind planes. There were also competitions, sports games and attractions from the OSP Oborniki Śląskie. In a specially prepared catering zone, one could eat between activities, and the lavender wall became a background for family photos – it was used by, among others, councillor Anna Janeczko, deputy mayor and village head Justyna Pindral.
While the children competed in the next competitions – from football games through “hobby horse” to a water balloon fight and a group dance – the adults competed in a culinary competition. The theme: the best vegetable dish. There were 16 entries, each unique. The jury did not have an easy task – all the dishes captivated with their taste, form and original names. The organizers appreciated all the participants, congratulating both the distinguished and the winners of the main prizes.
In Oborniki Śląskie, a series of holiday festivals has started under the slogan "Summer full of joy", hosted by the Obornicki Cultural Centre. The first meeting took place in the City Park and attracted many residents. On site, there were artistic shows, workshops, youth performances, inflatables, animations and a food zone. It was also worth visiting the fairs - both those of local craftsmen and the one organized by the Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz Public Library. Photo: oborniki-slaskie.pl.
