Fire is out of control. Popular island taken over by the elements

A dangerous fire has forced the evacuation of residents and tourists on the Greek island of Crete. Local media reports that the fire has completely gotten out of control. Fighting the fire is being hampered by strong winds.
A fire on the Greek island of Crete , popular among Polish tourists, forced the evacuation of hotels and residents of the area around the town of Jarapetra. The southeastern regions of the island are most at risk. Evacuation messages were sent to residents and tourists of the following towns: Agia Fotia, Achlia, Galini, Ferma and Koutsounari.

The fire is threatening homes and hotels, which have been evacuated . Many people who were on the beaches at the time of the fire were evacuated by boat. Several residents were given first aid because they were having trouble breathing , but there have been no reports of serious injuries so far.

The fire is being fought by 145 firefighters , who have 25 vehicles and four firefighting helicopters at their disposal. The authorities in Athens have sent reinforcements to the island.
