ICE detains 9 workers at New York sawmill. Owner says they are in the US legally

Last Tuesday, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided the Tupper Lake Pine Mill in Tupper Lake, New York. The raid resulted in the arrest of nine mill workers who, according to the company, are in the United States legally and have work permits.
Tupper Lake Pine Mill co-owner and COO Nicholas Drouin told the media that ICE officers entered his facility without a warrant and then detained nine mill workers.
Drouin stressed that the company cooperates with the Immigration Office in every possible way, but despite attempts to contact those detained, the management has not been successful. The co-owner of the plant emphasizes that his employees are in the US legally and have valid work permits.
"While we have made efforts to contact the detained employees, we have not been able to reach them directly. The investigation is ongoing and we are fully cooperating with ICE by providing appropriate I-9 verification data," Drouin explained.
“While the loss of team members will impact business operations, our primary focus remains supporting the investigation and the well-being of our employees,” he added.
