Low-cost airlines raid Poland. This summer will be record-breaking
Ryanair will increase its operations in Poland by 60% thanks to the new routes compared to 2019, the last year before the pandemic. Its biggest rival on the Polish market, Wizz Air, has announced that it will carry 9.5 million passengers this summer, only 1 million fewer than in the whole of pre-pandemic 2019 and 20% more than in the summer of 2024.
In summer 2025, the Hungarian carrier will add four aircraft to its Polish bases – two in Warsaw and one each in Gdansk, Katowice and Krakow. This will bring the total to 34. In addition to the previously announced 21 new connections this summer, Wizz Air has just added daily flights between Chopin Airport and London Gatwick, as well as three times weekly connections from Krakow to Sofia in Bulgaria. “Poland has been Wizz Air’s home market since 2004 and we are delighted to continue to strengthen our presence here,” says Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
