Nighttime drama at the rectory in Gądków Wielkie. Gloomy reports
The fire broke out between Monday and Tuesday at 1:10 a.m. in the rectory in the village of Gądków Wielki. The building is located right next to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows on Kościuszki Street.
— The first teams that arrived at the scene found a fully developed fire in the building. There were no injuries in the incident. The teams' actions consisted of securing the scene and extinguishing the fire. During the actions, the archive and property, including liturgical objects, were also evacuated — said Junior Brig. Rafał Sobczak, spokesman for the Sulęcin Fire Department.
12 firefighting units fought the fire. The operations lasted several hours. The losses are very high.
"It's sad... I saw that the priest put a lot of work into the renovation, he did practically everything himself," wrote one of the residents in a comment under the firefighters' post.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
