This is not a joke. A whale is stuck on the beach in Międzyzdroje. Rescue operation underway
An unusual rescue operation is underway on the beach in Międzyzdroje . The services are fighting for the life of a whale that is probably entangled in fishing nets. The mammal is about 5 meters long and is located about 80 meters from the shoreline.
The information about the rescue operation on the beach in Międzyzdroje was confirmed to "Fakt" by Asp. Dariusz Schacht, press spokesman for the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecin.
Sebastian Kluska, director of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service SAR, also published photos from the rescue operation on social media.
"Okay, catch the hit. There was a wolf in Łeba, a dog on the Bug River and now a humpback whale. Near Dziwnów in the Wolin National Park, BSR Dziwnów helps to untangle the animal," he wrote on the X platform.

The Maritime Search and Rescue Service (SAR), WOPR Międzyzdroje, OSP and PSP Międzyzdroje were dispatched to the rescue operation . The operations are also supported by experts from the Wolin National Park and the Maritime Office, monitoring the situation in terms of environmental protection and animal welfare — reports the międzyzdroje.tv portal.
As we managed to establish, the whale entangled in the nets was supposedly seen by fishermen from Międzyzdroje, who then notified the services. The mammal probably got entangled in their nets while feeding in the Baltic Sea. The presence of a whale in Polish waters is an extremely rare phenomenon.
A WOPR rescuer on site told "Fakt" that the whale is currently being pulled out of the water.
