Warsaw celebrated its day with parades and picnics

The colourful and joyful Mermaid Parade passed through the streets of Warsaw – an artistic procession with the participation of mermaids on platforms prepared by districts and city units.
Warsaw's mermaids drove along Nowy Świat and Krakowskie PrzedmieścieAccording to Monika Beuth, city spokeswoman, on the route from Nowy Świat to Plac Zamkowy participants could see theatre shows, music and dance performances.

The grand finale of the parade attracted crowds – unique mermaids appeared on the square: a spherical one and a flower one, and on the stage played, among others, RitmoBloco, Etno Scena and Orkiestra z Nadarzyn. The whole thing was crowned by a concert by Carla Fernandes, which ended the artistic festival with a bang.
Residents could practice first aidAt the same time, right next door in Świętokrzyski Park, a family picnic "Warsaw protects" was taking place, organized by the Capital Security Center and city services. Residents could take part in first aid workshops, practice CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) during the "Hour for Life" campaign, enter a rollover simulator and learn about rescue services equipment.

The youngest enjoyed inflatables, animations, meetings with mascots and a traffic town, where willing students took a bicycle license exam.
About 2,500 people took part in the “Hour for Life” campaign in all districts.
Warsaw celebrates its holiday on the day of elections to the contract SejmSince 2020, Warsaw Day has been celebrated on June 4, the anniversary of the elections to the Contract Sejm in 1989, based on the Resolution of the Council of the Capital City of Warsaw of November 7, 2019. Previously, it was celebrated on April 21. In 2003, the Council attempted to move this holiday to August 1, the day of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, but due to the difficult to reconcile nature of both celebrations, it ultimately withdrew from this resolution in the same year.
