Was there an attempted kidnapping of a child in Szczecin? The police are investigating

An unknown man and woman were supposed to have accosted a child in Szczecin, called to her and chased her. It is possible that thanks to the intervention of employees of the Tax Office, where the girl had taken refuge, her kidnapping was thwarted. A disturbing entry appeared on local groups telling about an alleged attempt to kidnap the girl. The incident was supposed to have taken place on Friday, June 13th around noon on Drzymały Street.

The online entry states that the girl was returning from school at around 12 o'clock when a man sitting in a car suddenly started calling her. He used the name "Oliwka" (which is not the girl's real name). She got scared and started to quicken her pace. Then she noticed that a strange woman was following her. Terrified, she ran into the Tax Office building, where she started to call for help. The employee of the office left the building, where - according to the report on social media - the unknown woman (the one who had previously followed the child) tried to convince her that the girl was her daughter. However, when asked for her name, she was unable to give her real name. As we read in the entry, the clerk was supposed to notify the police, who arrived at the scene. According to the entry circulating online, the car's registration numbers were supposedly checked, and the police allegedly suggested that some kind of criminal group was operating in Szczecin.

The police categorically deny these reports.

- It is not true that similar incidents occurred in Szczecin - says Asp. Ewelina Gryszpan from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Szczecin. - The police were not called to the scene, and even less so, no one provided information about the alleged gang prowling the city. The information about the car's false registration numbers is also untrue.

However, he confirms that there was an incident involving a child.

- On Friday, June 13, you and your daughter reported to the Szczecin-Śródmieście Police Station that she had been chased on Drzymały Street by unknown people: a man and a woman. The girl obtained help from the Tax Office - reports Asp. Ewelina Gryszpan. - The police are dealing with this case and are taking it very seriously. We have secured monitoring.
