When will higher pensions reach seniors? Changes to payment dates in March

On March 1, pensions and annuities will increase due to indexation. Some seniors will receive their benefits at a higher rate earlier than usual. When can they expect to receive payment?

Pension payments in March 2025

ZUS pays pensions on the 1st, 5th, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th day of the month. However, if the standard date falls on a non-working day, the benefits appear in retirees' accounts earlier.

March 1 falls on a Saturday this year, which means that pensioners who are paid benefits on that day will receive them in the indexed amount on February 28.

March 15 also falls on a Saturday. The benefit will therefore be paid the day before – on Friday, March 14.

The remaining beneficiaries will receive their pension on time.

Pension indexation 2025: How much will the benefit increase be?

March pensions will be higher than those paid a month earlier, and the reason for this is the indexation carried out this month. The indexation rate, determined on the basis of inflation and the average salary, will amount to 5.5% in 2025, and this is the amount by which the amounts of benefits will be increased.

From 1 March 2025, the minimum retirement pension, survivors' pension and survivors' pension due to total incapacity for work will be PLN 1,878.91 gross.

Pension payment date: Can it be extended?

The date on which of the seven fixed dates the pensioner will receive the benefit is determined at the time of submitting the pension application. In this case, the pension authority takes into account the number of benefits paid on a given day, as well as the pace of inflow of pension contributions. The date is provided in the decision on granting the pension. However, if the beneficiary considers that another date is more appropriate for them, they can submit an application with justification - and ZUS may agree to such a change.
