  • Another municipality raises the fee for waste collection and management.
  • Currently, Kluczbork residents pay PLN 37, the new rate is PLN 42.
  • The new fee will come into effect at the beginning of July.

During the last session, the Kluczbork city council decided that from the beginning of July the fee for waste collection and management will increase by PLN 5 per person. Currently, residents pay PLN 37, the new rate is PLN 42. This means that the fee will go up by almost 15 percent.

- We are not happy with the increases, but there was no other way - said Deputy Mayor Dariusz Mazurczak on Radio Opole. - Agreements signed with our partners assume the right to index the price of the service. Let me remind you that since 2023 we have not increased prices, and during this time we had two indexation of price increases, which resulted from agreements with our customer - he added.

The commune contributed over PLN 600,000 to waste management last year, and a year earlier it was almost PLN 1.8 million.

Residents who compost bio-waste pay PLN 3 less.

The deputy mayor explains that the price is also related to the frequency of waste collection; the local government wanted to limit the number of waste collections, but it turned out that the residents had different expectations.

- The frequency is one of the highest among the municipalities in the Opole province. From spring to late autumn, bio-waste is collected every week, other waste is collected every other week, and glass every month. Four times a year, so-called large-sized waste can be disposed of in single-family homes, and almost every two months, residents of multi-family buildings have the right to do so - he explained on Radio Opole.

In Kluczbork, a discount on waste disposal fees is available to holders of the Large Family Card (PLN 5), while residents who compost bio-waste pay PLN 3 less.

The local government also estimates that the rate is influenced by the fact that up to 20 percent of residents may avoid paying the fee.
