PLN 273 to the pension each month. Few seniors realize that they are entitled to

• Volunteer firefighters and mountain rescuers are entitled to a rescue benefit of PLN 273 per month, awarded for many years of service
• To receive it, men must be at least 25 years old, and women 20 years of active participation in rescue operations (at least once a year).
• The benefit is granted after reaching retirement age - 65 years for men and 60 years for women - upon application submitted to the commander of the State Fire Service.
• The allowance is indexed annually and paid by the Pension and Annuity Institution of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

Under the Act of 17 December 2021 on Volunteer Fire Departments, a Volunteer Firefighter Rescuer is entitled to a rescue benefit (indexed annually) for years of service in the Volunteer Fire Department. From 1 March 2025, this allowance amounts to PLN 273 per month.

It should be remembered that the right to this benefit is granted to a firefighter, a rescuer of the Volunteer Fire Department and a mountain rescuer who actively participated in rescue operations or rescue actions (direct participation required at least once a year):

• for at least 25 years (in the case of men) and
• 20 years (for women).

When calculating the period of active participation in rescue operations, continuity of seniority is not required.

The rescue benefit is granted upon the application of the interested party submitted to the district/municipal commander of the State Fire Service. The right to this benefit is granted after a man reaches the age of 65, and a woman reaches the age of 60. The benefit is paid by the Pension and Annuity Institution of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.
