Michał Szułdrzyński: The Mystery of Lenin's Technological Rope Solved
Deerhoof hasn't exactly been the most popular band from San Francisco, at least not in Europe. I, for example, only learned of their existence a week ago, when they announced a boycott of Spotify. Along with several other recognizable bands like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Xiu Xiu, they decided to withdraw their music from the most popular streaming platform, not wanting "art to contribute to war." This immediately intrigued me, as it's a noble thing for artists to call for peace. We know full well that by buying Russian raw materials, for example, we support Putin's aggressive policies and the invasion of Ukraine, so it's better to avoid gas stations linked to Russian oil.
