A difficult year for Wisła's sports director. Fans in Krakow are losing patience

The first need was caused by the decision to loan left defender Jakub Krzyżanowski to Torino, the second was the result of the relegation of the Greek team at the time, PAS Giannina, to the second league, which also meant a decrease in his salary and even the risk of losing his job. Giving him a helping hand was also supposed to benefit Wisła, but it did not.

Kiss, on the other hand, was remembered by fans for his senseless red card in the match against Znicz and for leaving the pitch before the end of the match against Miedź, despite coming off the bench only after half-time. Mariusz Jop had no intention of humiliating the player, he always tries to build a positive aura around his players. That is why, when answering the question about the reasons for giving the Hungarian a "fishing rod", he chose his words in such a way as to spare him embarrassment. But those who can read between the lines know better.

I devote so much space to Mr. K as a warning. Of course, a sports director, especially one who is a debutant and for the first six months worked with a badge on his chest saying "acting", is not responsible for all the evil. After all, his choices are also assessed by other officials, and some players appear in the club with his trace participation. Like it or not, he signs the entire transfer policy of the club with his name, because his duties also include categorically opposing the ideas of others if he considers them to be wrong. So when he does not protest, it means that he approves of them.

However, the fact that things are going so-so for now (Wisła could consider signing Duarte, Igbekeme and Poletanović as a second option, in order to stick with foreigners), does not mean that things will not improve. The swallow that makes spring possible may be Julius Ertlthaler, who has just thrown off the GKS Tychy jersey in favour of the White Star jersey. It is too early to say that hiring another shortstop (169 cm tall, Viennese) is a great transfer, but at least it bodes well. However, the lack of further reinforcements may be worrying. It came to the point that Mariusz Jop, after the departure of several players, including the key ones Igbekeme and Baena, had to urgently take not only three players from the reserve team to the first training camp, but also ask Dawid Szot, who is looking for a new employer, to go to Wola Chorzelowska.

Basha is therefore slowly getting going. Contrary to Zdzisław Kapka, Ryszard Czerwiec and Marcin Kuźba from Wieczysta, thanks to whom the first reinforcements for the new season were announced by the club from Chałupnik... four hours after entering the first league, and the next ones in the following days. And this still does not tell the whole story about their hustle, because if the promotion had been secured in the non-season mode, Wieczysta would now have players from a much higher shelf. One of them, impatient with the prolonged lack of decisions in the second league, chose a job overseas, while another went to Portugal.

It's only the beginning of the transfer window, but it's clear that the prudent ones got down to specific work many months ago. We'll soon find out if Wisła did the same. Fans are losing patience, because president Jarosław Królewski has said many times that the club is prepared for any scenario, including the disastrous one that the team faced in the play-off semi-finals. And he didn't say that without promotion to Ekstraklasa there would be a lack of money for it.
