First of all, the Polish athletes did not disappoint their fans. They finished the competition in Tomaszów Mazowiecki with four medals: gold for the sprinters and three bronze medals in the 500 meters: Kaja Ziomek-Nogal, Andżelika Wójcik and Marek Kania. - In terms of results, this was our best World Cup in Tomaszów - rejoices the sports director of the Polish Athletics Association, responsible for organizing the competition, Konrad Niedźwiedzki. - The sports result was excellent, and it could have been even better if not for the bad luck of the guys in the team. We are also happy that the audience turned up. The atmosphere was wonderful, I was very emotional about it all myself. We have never had such an audience here. Indeed, the stands of the Ice Arena were filled to the last available seat, and loud cheering carried our representatives to the medals.
– It was a fantastic weekend for all of us in Tomaszów, there were so many people interested in entering the World Cup that we literally looked for every free spot so that fans could see the competition live – says Rafał Tataruch, president of the Polish Speed Skating Association. – It was the first time in Tomaszów that we had such a high turnout, but I think we have earned it in recent years. The increasingly better results of our athletes have a magnet effect on Polish fans. If there are results, there are also fans in the hall and in front of the TV. This was clearly visible this weekend in Tomaszów. Our competitors did not disappoint, they stood on the podium again, which will only increase the level of interest in skating in Poland. At the end of the competition, we received positive comments from officials of the International Skating Union (ISU), who were pleased with the way we conducted the competition in Tomaszów – adds the president.
Praise from the world federation authorities and competitors translates into a guarantee of further major events in our country. At the beginning of 2026, i.e. in the Olympic year, we have another World Cup and European Championships planned. Probably both events will take place on the new indoor track in Zakopane.
