Heavy rain on the courts in Seoul. What about Świątek's match?

The weather isn't cooperating at the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul. Continuous downpours are forcing some matches to be rescheduled. Organizers are also currently dealing with the rain. What about Iga Świątek's quarterfinal match?

Iga Świątek made a successful start to her tournament in South Korea, where she is competing for the first time in her career. The Pole, seeded number one, had a bye in the first round. In the second round, she comfortably defeated Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-2.

The Raszyn native's quarterfinal opponent is Barbora Krejcikova, who eliminated Tatiana Prozorova and later Emma Raducanu. The match between the Pole and the Czech was scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. Polish time.

However, it's currently raining in Seoul. The first quarterfinal match between Maya Joint and Clara Tauson, scheduled for 5:00 a.m. on Friday, was canceled due to the unfavorable conditions. Suzan Lamens and Katerina Siniakova, who were scheduled to start at 6:30 a.m., also missed the court for the same reason.

The Polish team's match will also be delayed. The forecast isn't very optimistic, with rain expected to continue throughout the day, which could mean that matches in this phase of the competition won't be played until Saturday.

WTA ranking leader Aryna Sabalenka will not be seen in Seoul. The Belarusian is not competing, so a possible victory for Świątek could reduce the points gap to the world number one.
