Poland is in the final! A big victory and a problem for Nikola Grbić

One might have wondered how the Poles would fare against the team that won the intercontinental round. Brazil took first place in the table, defeating, among others, coach Nikola Grbić's team along the way. The Poles lost 3-1 at the tournament in Chicago, but such defeats are rather standard in a long VNL season.

Nations League: Poland advances to the final! Kewin Sasak's brilliant performance

When it came to the high-stakes competition, the Polish volleyball team once again delivered. It must be admitted, however, that although the match lasted three sets, it was full of drama. There were plenty of twists and turns, including some we certainly wouldn't want to see in any match.

In the latter case, we're talking about the injury suffered by Tomasz Fornal . Early in the second set, the Polish receiver landed awkwardly after a tackle, and his ankle bent unnaturally, which could be seen in replays. However, the player wanted to return to the court to help the team. This proved successful, and the Poles won the second set, taking a 2-0 lead with Fornal in the lineup. However, at the beginning of the third set, the player himself requested a substitution, feeling that he might only worsen his health situation. This is especially true considering that not only the 2025 VNL final but also the upcoming World Championships in September are on the horizon.

As for the Polish team, Kewin Sasak played another excellent match. The attacker, who impressed in the quarterfinal clash against Japan , once again demonstrated how reliable he is in coach Grbić's team. And the absence of Bartosz Kurek, while certainly felt, may not be the biggest problem for the national team.

Sasak was the highest-scoring player on the Polish side. His high efficiency provided breathing space for Marcin Komenda, the playmaker, especially in difficult moments when he needed to finish the ball. Coach Grbić had to rotate the ball most heavily in the receiving department. Not only because of Fornal's injury, but also because Wilfredo Leon was struggling with his efficiency. Ultimately, Kamil Semeniuk put in a good performance, calming down the receiving side and displaying... a 100% offensive efficiency (6/6).

It's worth noting that the rightly complimented Sasak finished the match with 19 points, with an incredibly high efficiency of 81 percent!
