This is what will decide the Polish match. Nikola Grbić's man has no illusions.
Under coach Nikola Grbić, Poland has faced Brazil eight times, losing only twice. Each time, it was in the Intercontinental Nations League round—this year and last. In the current edition, the Canarinhos prevailed 3-1 in the second tournament in Chicago, but our team wasn't in its best form at the time. Darlan Souza played a sensational match for the opposition, but the Polish coaching staff also points to their other strengths.
While in the quarter-finals of the Nations League the Poles had to face the Japanese, known for their excellent defense, their semi-final opponent, Brazil, has a much greater attacking firepower.
"Brazil is an attacking team. They have an unpredictable setter in Cachopa, who also has a varied serve. Henrique Honortao is similar, and Lukas Bergman is a stronger serve-hitter. They'll likely start the match without Ricardo Lucarelli, but we're prepared for him to return to the field eventually. Even if he's not at his best, we're talking about such a classy player that his presence alone adds a lot to the team. Patience and preparation for a long battle, from which we will emerge victorious, will be key for us," says Marcin Nowakowski, assistant to Nikola Grbić on the Polish national team staff.
The Poland vs. Brazil match starts at 1:00 p.m. Earlier, in the first semi-final, the Italians will face the Slovenians (9:00 a.m.), who surprisingly dispatched the double Olympic champions from France in the quarter-finals.
