Tragic accident of Legia Warsaw footballer. "Most sincere expressions of sympathy"
The bad news came early Thursday afternoon. The information appeared on the club's official profile dedicated to youth teams.
"Legia U17 player Ksawery Jeżewski is in hospital in serious condition after a tragic car accident in which his sister died. The board, club employees, colleagues and coaches from the Academy express their deepest condolences to Ksawery's parents and join them in their pain. We will provide all possible support to our player and his family. The accident occurred on Tuesday, July 1, on national road no. 60, between the towns of Goślice and Ciachcin (Bielsk commune, Płock district). More details about the tragic event were provided by "Dziennik Płocki" .
– The police initially determined that a Toyota vehicle, for reasons currently unexplained, left the road and hit a tree. Unfortunately, despite resuscitation attempts, a young woman died at the scene, while a young man was taken to hospital in serious condition – Monika Jakubowska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Płock told Dziennik Płocki.
The young player can only be wished a speedy recovery. Social media is full of encouraging posts supporting the young footballer. Jeżewski is 17 years old and moved to the Warsaw club from Wisła Płock.
Last season, the player played in the U-17 Central Junior League. Legia, with Jeżewski in the line-up, ultimately lost a two-game series with Śląsk Wrocław in the competition for the bronze medals of the Polish Junior Championship. Additionally, the player was called up to the Polish youth national team.
