Important message for Wizz Air customers. Flights will be longer

The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East has its consequences for airlines. Due to the closure of airspace over Israel, Iran, Iraq and Syria, and previously the suspension of flights over Jordan, carriers operating routes including this area had to implement a special action plan. Among others, Wizz Air announced changes to its schedule. The low-cost airline's flights from Poland to the United Arab Emirates will operate on alternative routes, which will result in longer travel. This may also include stopovers.
Changes to flights to the Middle EastThe evacuation of Poles located there is underway in Israel. Since the airspace over that country remains closed, the MFA must first transport them by bus to the capital of Jordan, which recently also suspended air operations in its territory. Now, Polish citizens will be able to return safely to the country from Amman.
The situation in the region is changing dynamically, and airlines are responding to it very quickly. It's not just about flight cancellations, but also changes in routes, even in countries that are not directly affected by the conflict.
Longer Wizz Air flightsThe announcement on this matter was issued by, among others, Wizz Air. "Due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East and the closure of several airspaces in the region, Wizz Air has implemented alternative flight routes for some of its connections," we read in the statement of the Hungarian airline. This means that travelers to both Dubai and Abu Dhabi can spend longer in the air than before, when both flights departing from Katowice lasted less than 6 hours.
The extended flight time could also mean that passengers will have to make an additional stopover en route to refuel, which the carrier calls a technical stopover. “The safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft remains our top priority. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this period,” Wizz Air added.
