5 tips for taking care of glitter and paint in your intimate area during Carnival

Glitter and body paint are widely used during Carnival to complement costumes. However, despite appearing harmless, they can cause damage when applied to certain areas of the body, especially the intimate region.
Glitter, for example, is made up of plastic and metallic microparticles that do not dissolve easily. When applied to the intimate area, it can come into contact with the vaginal mucosa, causing irritation, allergies and even micro-injuries.
"The vaginal mucosa is extremely sensitive. Glitter can cause small injuries and encourage the entry of bacteria and fungi, increasing the risk of infections such as candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis," warns gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Renata Moedim.
Body paints contain harsh chemicals, dyes and preservatives that can trigger dermatitis, intense itching and allergic reactions. Furthermore, they are not always dermatologically tested.
"Some dyes contain components such as heavy metals and alcohol, which can dry out and alter vaginal pH. This can pave the way for gynecological infections and even hinder natural lubrication," explains the doctor.
To avoid these complications and enjoy the festivities safely, the gynecologist highlights some recommendations. Check it out!
1. Avoid applying glitter and paints directly to the genital area. Those who don't want to give up shine should only use it on areas such as thighs and abdomen, but always keeping a safe distance from the vulva.
2. Use gel-based products or products with a less abrasive textureLoose glitter can be dangerous, while gel products may have less risk of friction.

There are eco-friendly glitter options and specific paints for sensitive skin.
