David Moura is national champion
The Feirense athlete won the 800 meters in Beja and guaranteed his presence at the European Youth Olympic Festival

The 76th edition of the Under/18 National Athletics Championships, held at the Fernando Mamede Sports Complex, in Beja, were collectively dominated by Sporting, who were crowned national champions in both the men's and women's sectors, and in both genders shared the podium with Juventude Vidigalense and Clube de Atletismo do Porto, second and third place, respectively. However, in the event organized by the Portuguese Athletics Federation, in collaboration with the Beja Athletics Association and the local municipality, there were three athletes from two clubs in the region (out of the seven that were represented) who managed to reach the podium.

The biggest highlight, without a doubt, goes to David Moura. The promising athlete from Feirense's athletics section won the 800 metres race with a time of 1:57.69 minutes, securing yet another national title for his CV and confirming his presence at the European Youth Olympic Festival, which this year's edition will take place in Skopje, Macedonia, between the 21st and 26th.

Two more young people from the region on the podium

The young “fogaceiro”, however, was not the only one from the Santa Maria club to climb to the podium, as Simão Silva came in third place in the 3,000-meter race, which he completed in 8:49.14 minutes. Also worthy of note was Diogo Pinho, from Villa Cesari, who secured third place and the respective bronze medal in the 5,000-meter walk race, which he completed in 26:44.34 minutes.
