Drug network operating in Brenha dismantled

A year of investigation led to the discovery of a drug trafficking network that supplied the Alhadas parish, in Figueira da Foz, which was dismantled last Sunday by the Coimbra Territorial Command, through the Montemor-o-Velho Criminal Investigation Unit of the GNR. In the action carried out by the military, it was possible to reach the ten elements that made up the network and seize various materials, from narcotics to weapons, money and other equipment.
According to a source from the Montemor-o-Velho Territorial Detachment, this is a network that “worked specifically in Brenha”, where, in fact, the elements came from, who, according to the same source, would be 10. “They resold locally, the customers went to their homes or they went to sell door to door”, explains the same source, specifying that among the group there were “resellers” and “couriers who made trips to the north to acquire the drugs”.
According to the same source, four men, aged between 26 and 33, were arrested, and three men and three women, aged between 26 and 57, were named defendants. According to the same source, the two alleged ringleaders, indicted for drug trafficking, have already appeared in court and will be subject to periodic appearances, on Tuesdays and Fridays, at the GNR station in their area of residence. The other two arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon were subject to an identity and residence permit (TIR). The remaining six defendants are yet to appear in court.
According to the same source, all those involved had family and friendships. They were all unemployed and made drug trafficking “their way of life”. None of them had a criminal record.
This would be a network that, according to the GNR, has been operating for just over a year. “We started investigating a year ago and the network had been working for a month or two before that,” explains the GNR.
The operation also seized 114 doses of heroin, 70.5 doses of cocaine, 4.6 doses of hashish, two firearms, several rounds of ammunition, three batons, nine mobile phones and 360 euros in cash.
