Hundreds gathered near the Eiffel Tower lit up in the country's colors

Hundreds of people, mostly Ukrainians, gathered in Paris today, near the Eiffel Tower which was lit up tonight with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, to show support and shout “glory to Ukraine”, on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion.
“This symbol will be seen by the whole world, which will see that Ukraine is not alone in its struggle,” said Ukraine’s ambassador to France, Omelchenko Vadym Volodymyrovych, at the Place des Derechos Humanes in Trocadéro at 7:00 p.m. local time, as the Parisian symbol was illuminated from the top to the middle with a blue hue, alluding to the Ukrainian colors.
On a “sad day for everyone”, in which “Russia continues to kill”, the ambassador called for a minute of silence to “honor the memory of the heroes and innocent victims of the war”, which began on February 24, 2022.
The Paris City Council initiative brought together more women and children than men in the square, who refused to be interviewed by Lusa, but whose voices stood out as they shouted “glory to Ukraine” and sang after the speeches.
“On behalf of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, I say with strength and determination: we will not accept an imposed peace, we will not accept negotiations without Ukraine and we will not accept that the future of European security is decided without Europeans,” said a representative.
“Russia will not stop with Ukraine and will go further into Europe” if the war does not end, Marta Khomiak, 15, told Lusa, with the Ukrainian flag on her back, arguing that “one should never support the aggressor”, criticizing the position of the United States that is trying to negotiate with Russia.
