Hamas has pledged to release the bodies of four hostages tonight: Tsachi Idan, Itzik Elgarat, Ohad Yahalomi and Shlomo Mantzu. In exchange, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will be released.

The exchange comes days before the end of the first phase of the ceasefire. Israel has delayed the planned release of 600 Palestinian prisoners to protest the cruel treatment of hostages during the exchange operations, which Hamas has called a "serious violation" of the ceasefire. The terrorist group has only committed to talks on the second phase if the Palestinians are released. According to Benjamin Netanyahu, the bodies of the four hostages will be handed over without a ceremony, contrary to what Hamas has done.

Tsachi Idan, one of the people whose body will be handed over by Hamas, was taken from the Nahal Oz kibbutz . His eldest daughter, Maayan, was killed by Hamas through the door of the room where the family had taken refuge.

Ohad Yahalomi had both Israeli and French nationality, and French President Emmanuel Macron wrote about him on social media: "In these suspended hours of pain and anguish, the nation stands by them."
