Ukraine said on Wednesday (26) that it is ready to approve in Washington the agreement with the United States on the exploration of rare minerals , however, it guarantees that its success will depend solely and exclusively on the talks with President Donald Trump.

"This deal can be a great success, but this great success depends on our talks with President Trump," the Ukrainian president assured.

Talks between the US and Russia are scheduled to continue on Thursday (27). On Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington to sign a mineral exploration agreement with Trump. The Ukrainian president hopes that these negotiations will result in security guarantees from the US, as Ukraine fears Russian attacks during a possible peace agreement.

Furthermore, Zelensky stressed that the most important thing is that the agreement does not place Ukraine in the position of a debtor, which would have to pay hundreds of billions of dollars for US military assistance that it has sought in the past. This possibility had already been raised previously by Donald Trump, who demanded that Ukraine pay $500,000 (around €475 billion) .

On Tuesday, the Republican had already confirmed his Ukrainian counterpart's intention to travel to Washington to sign a "great deal". On Monday, Trump stated that "within a week there will be no more war" . These statements were made during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

This deal, which requires Kiev to supply minerals to the US in exchange for financial and military aid, would be essential for Ukrainians to gain Donald Trump's support.

The Ukrainian government also approved the agreement. "Today, the government approved a decision necessary for the signing between Ukraine and the United States of an agreement on the creation of a reconstruction investment fund," said Denys Shmyhal, the Ukrainian prime minister.

However, despite several signals being given in an attempt to find peace, the truth is that Trump has been a strong critic of Zelensky.

The American even called Zelensky a "dictator" . In addition, it was also known that he held meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, to achieve peace in Ukraine, without his presence.
