Rio 2016 gold medalist arrested in US anti-prostitution operation

Considered one of the most successful fighters in the history of the United States, Kyle Snyder has returned to the spotlight in a way he didn't want. A gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Games , the 29-year-old athlete was arrested in a Columbus, Ohio police operation against prostitution at a hotel in the city. He has not yet spoken out about the case.

Snyder was the youngest American to win Olympic gold. He achieved the feat at the 2016 Games in Rio, beating Cuban Arturo Silot in the final. His Olympic career continued and he returned to the podium at the Tokyo Games, held in 2021, with silver. In Paris-2024, he fell in the bronze medal match.

His successful career began much earlier, while he was still in college. He was a three-time NCAA champion at Ohio State, taking off and even winning three world championships. He has yet to comment on the incident, but is scheduled to appear in court on May 19.
