Searches at TAP for compensation to former administrator

The searches also include a law firm in Lisbon and “research on computer equipment belonging to the General Secretariat of the Government,” the Public Prosecutor's Office of the District of Lisbon said in a statement.
According to Lusa, the suspects are suspected of committing crimes of harmful administration, receiving or offering undue benefits, economic participation in business, and abuse of power.
The investigation is being led by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Lisbon and is being investigated into “facts related to the award of compensation following the resignation of a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of TAP”.
In December 2022, TAP was involved in a controversy due to the payment of compensation of 500 thousand euros to the then administrator Alexandra Reis for her early departure from the company.
On May 31, 2023, the manager assured that it had returned 266,412.76 euros to the company on that day, “the overall net amount indicated by TAP”.
According to the statement, today's searches aim to "seize documentation" and are being "presided over by public prosecutors and an investigating judge, assisted by inspectors from the Judicial Police (PJ)."
Contacted by Lusa, TAP assured that it is cooperating with the authorities in all investigations and declined to comment on legal proceedings.
“TAP does not comment on legal proceedings and always cooperates with authorities in any and all investigations,” the airline responded in writing.
