Woman suffers racial abuse while returning from a friend's house in São Paulo.

The Civil Police are investigating a case of racial slurs committed against Claudete Souza, 58, in the city of Promissão, São Paulo. The incident occurred on October 31 of this year.

According to the police report, the victim was returning from a friend's house when she passed by a place where recyclables are stored, and as she passed, a man began to imitate a monkey.

According to Claudete's testimony to CNN Brazil , the man allegedly made a very loud monkey noise while laughing and looking at the victim. In an audio message sent by a friend who was present, the woman claims to have witnessed the incident.

"I'm quite shaken by this story, quite hurt, really. Hurt deep down in my heart, I'm truly devastated," says Claudete.

CNN Brazil contacted the SSP-SP (São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat), but had not received a response by the time of publication. The space remains open for their response.
