Faro Folk Group represents Portugal at festival in Lithuania

This is the first time the Algarve group has participated in this event, considered the largest folklore festival in the Baltic States and one of the largest in Eastern Europe.
In this 10th edition, the event welcomes 13 international groups, 44 Lithuanian formations and eight solo artists, in a program that includes competitive performances, street concerts, dance workshops, a craft fair and various cultural activities.
The organization is in charge of the International Organization of Folk Art ( IOV ) and the Federation of International Dance Festivals ( FIDAF ), which distinguished the event, in 2023, as «Best Festival».
With a delegation of 32 members, including dancers, musicians and singers, the group from Faro will compete in several categories and present the traditional repertoire of the Algarve. The participation marks the group's debut in Lithuania, a country that now joins the list of 22 nations visited on four continents since the group was founded.
Organizer of FolkFaro — the largest international folklore festival south of the Tagus — the Faro Folklore Group returns home in time to prepare the 21st edition of the event, which takes place between 17 and 23 August.
