The show, entitled 'Flores do Verde Ramo', also commemorates the 700th anniversary of the death of King D. Dinis and is part of the programme of the Sons da Cidade project, which aims to mark the 12th anniversary of the inscription of the 'University of Coimbra, Alta and Sofia' on the UNESCO World Heritage list, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
Despite free entry, tickets must be presented for the concert, which can be collected, up to two per person, from the 16th at the UC Tourism Shop and at the São Francisco Convent.
In a note sent to the Lusa agency, the University of Coimbra stressed that the cultural event promoted annually by the RUAS Association - Recriar a Universidade, Alta e Sofia takes place, this year, between the 16th and 22nd, under the sign of reflection and artistic intervention with the theme 'Verses of Time, Voices of Heritage'.
According to the statement, the multidisciplinary program "invites reflection and intervention on heritage and the revisiting of spaces and cultural works, through concerts, project presentations and guided tours".
Sons da Cidade kicks off on the 16th, a Monday, with the presentation of the preliminary study for the requalification of the Associação Académica de Coimbra complex, by architect Gonçalo Byrne.
On Tuesday, the 17th, in the UC Senate Room, the management plan of the 'University of Coimbra, Alta and Sofia' will be presented and, still on the subject of heritage, on Saturday, the 21st, the Open Yard activity will take interested parties on two visits to the works underway in the Gerais building.
On the last day of the programme, a Sunday, the 22nd - the date that marks 12 years since the UNESCO classification - there will be, in the morning, a guided visit to the schools on Rua da Sofia, a concert by musicians from the Orquestra Clássica do Centro, in the bridge building on the same street (over Avenida Central) at 6:30 pm, and the first screening of the documentary 'Salatinas: Memórias da Velha Alta de Coimbra', produced by Tiago Cerveira, Rafael Vieira and Filipa Queiroz, at 9:15 pm, in Largo da Porta Férrea.
