Lula praises 'giants' of Brazilian cinema awarded in Cannes

“The Secret Agent” won awards for best actor and best director

President Lula (PT) saluted this Saturday 24th the “giants” of Brazilian cinemaKleber Mendonça Filho and Wagner Moura , awarded as best director and best actor, respectively, at the Cannes Festival for the feature film “The Secret Agent”.
“Today is the day […] to enjoy the happiness of living in a country that has giants of the stature of @kmendoncafilho [Kleber Mendonça Filho] and Wagner Moura,” wrote Lula on the social network X.
“Our country’s cinema is second to none” and “we will continue to delight audiences and critics around the world,” added the president.
Moura, 48, won the award for best male performance on Sunday for his role as a teacher who returns to Recife to reunite with his son during the military dictatorship (1965-1984).
