Messias Baptista speed runner-up

This Sunday, Portuguese Messias Baptista won the silver medal in the K1 200 meters event at the 2025 European Canoe Sprint Championships, his second in the competition, which takes place in Racice, in the Czech Republic.
Messias Baptista, 25, completed the distance in the A final in 34.174 seconds, just 36 hundredths behind Serbian Strahinja Dragoslavljevic, who was crowned European champion with a time of 34.138, while Spaniard Carlos Arevalo took bronze, 416 seconds behind the winner.
The Portuguese canoeist, world champion at the distance, had already won a gold medal in this edition of the European Championships, in K4 500 meters, alongside Gustavo Gonçalves, João Ribeiro and Pedro Casinha, as well as Fernando Pimenta, in the K1 1,000 meters event.
