With an 'Italian soul', a bar in Hong Kong is voted the best in the world

The world's best bar in 2025 is Italian-speaking and located in Hong Kong. "Bar Leone," run by Roman Lorenzo Antinori, took first place in the prestigious global ranking "The World's 50 Best Bars."
This is the first time since the creation of the award – sponsored by Perrier – that an establishment located in Asia has topped the list.
To the sound of "Sarà perché ti amo", a hit by the Italian duo Ricchi e Poveri, the ranking's official profile announced the feat on social media, praising the achievement as "a unique path".
A few months ago, Bar Leone had already been voted the best bar in Asia for the second year in a row.
"Today is a special day. Receiving this recognition in Hong Kong and sharing it with so many friends is special. There are so many bars around the world that deserve to be on this list, we are very honored," said Antinori, a Roma fan and one of the biggest names in contemporary cocktails.
Inspired by the philosophy of "popular cocktails," Bar Leone pays homage to Rome's neighborhood bars, where the community gathers for coffee, an aperitif, or good conversation.
The atmosphere is a love letter to the Italian capital of the 1980s and 1990s: welcoming, unpretentious and rooted in Italian culture and hospitality.
In addition to leading with "Bar Leone", Italy secured five positions in the ranking of the 50 best bars in the world.
The highlight is "Moebius Milano", founded by Lorenzo Querci in 2019. Located in Milan, the bar jumped from 31st to 7th place, consolidating its position as one of the main cocktail destinations in the world.
Another notable name is "Locale Firenze" in Florence, run by Fabio Fanni, which now ranks 22nd. In Rome, the iconic "Drink Kong" by mixologist Patrick Pistolesi ranks 40th, while "Speakeasy 1930," also in Milan, ranks 43rd.
The podium also includes "Sips", from Barcelona, founded by the Italian Simone Caporale in partnership with Marc Álvarez, disciple of the renowned Adrià brothers, who took 3rd place.
