INSS has already received more than 3 million disputes regarding pension discounts

INSS president Gilberto Waller reported this Friday the 13th that the organization received 3.1 million complaints from policyholders related to undue discounts on membership fees.
If all requests are successful, the total value of the compensation will be approximately 1.8 billion reais, according to the agency's projection.
The entities have 15 days, from the moment the insured person files a dispute, to submit a response to the INSS regarding the disputed discounts. Of the 43 entities involved, 15 have not yet submitted any response to the Institute.
In addition, 512,000 responses came from associations that submitted documents to try to prove the regularity of the discounts. Some presented court decisions indicating that the situation had already been resolved, while others attached documents signed by the policyholders themselves, authorizing the association.
In these cases, the insured will have 30 days to inform the INSS whether or not he recognizes the document presented by the entity. If he does not recognize it, the insured's word will prevail, according to Waller.
“We are opening a dialogue box for them. We show them the documents so they can say: ‘I recognize it or not. Is it my signature? No, it is not. Is it my document? No, it is not. So bring your document so we can see that it is different’”, stated the president of the Institute. “Depending on the type, the victim’s word is worth more, the retiree’s word is worth more”.

After years of hardship , we are back to a Brazil that is at least somewhat normal. This new normal, however, remains full of uncertainties . The threat from Bolsonaro persists, and the appetites of the market and Congress continue to put pressure on the government. Abroad, the global advance of the far right and the brutality in Gaza and Ukraine risk imploding the fragile foundations of global governance.
