Turismo do Centro wants a wine tourism route with Alentejo and Spanish Extremadura

The president of Turismo Centro de Portugal (TCP) said today that the partnership with Alentejo and Spanish Extremadura could evolve into an Iberian wine tourism route, where travelers can travel a specific route.
"My proposal for 2026 is to create a green route for Iberian wine tourism, with a defined route, like the paths of Santiago, that people can follow and mark their passage with a specific passport" , Rui Ventura explained to the Lusa news agency.
The leader, who took office about two months ago, was speaking about the meeting that will take place on Thursday in Madrid, Spain, about the project "Three regions, two countries and one heart", as part of a partnership that began about a decade ago.
It is a territory of 92,500 square kilometres, inhabited by four million people, in which the three regions cooperate and establish partnerships to promote and enhance tourism.
At the meeting on Thursday in Madrid, the second stage of the project this year, videos of the places that the three regions intend to promote will be presented, in addition to a gastronomic tasting in which TCP will offer the tasting of ovos moles from Aveiro.
The Alentejo region will be responsible for preparing the main course and the Spanish Extremadura for the starters, with the wines coming from the three regions.
The event aims to highlight the potential of this Iberian axis as a tourist destination and to foster synergies between the various stakeholders in the sector, including public and private institutions, with a view to developing and boosting the joint tourism offer.
According to the president of the Regional Tourism Entity of Central Portugal, there will be another moment of the project in September, which will be in Lisbon, and a fourth in November, in Elvas, which will bring together businesspeople from both sides of the border.
"The aim is to jointly promote these regions and make their territories known, across borders that are united by leisure" , highlighted Rui Ventura.
