Youtuber Pirulla leaves the ICU after suffering a stroke

Paleontologist, zoologist and YouTuber Paulo Miranda Nascimento, known as Pirula or Pirulla, 43, was discharged from the ICU and is in stable condition, according to information provided late Friday afternoon, the 13th, by the team behind the podcast Os Três Elementos, in which he participates. Despite his progress, he remains hospitalized and is undergoing a series of tests to try to identify the cause of the stroke that struck him.

According to the note released by the Os Três Elementos team, Pirulla has already begun the first stages of rehabilitation, which is essential for him to recover and not be left with any after-effects.

Pirulla suffered a stroke on Sunday night, the 25th, at his home in São Paulo, and has been hospitalized in the ICU until now.

Pirulla's YouTube channel was created in 2006 and surpassed 1 million subscribers in 2022. Pirula was also one of the creators of the Science Vlogs Brasil project, whose objective is to bring together national science communication channels to combat the anti-science 'wave' on the internet.

In 2023 Pirulla published the book Darwin sem frescura, co-authored with Reinaldo José Lopes.

The virtual fundraiser launched to help the YouTuber and his family is still operating at PIX [email protected]. “The funds raised will help cover the costs of treatment, rehabilitation care and the continuity of the projects,” says the note from the Os Três Elementos team.
