The Coimbra Local Health Unit (ULS) wants to reach 350 home care vacancies this year. The objective was put forward yesterday by Alexandre Lourenço, during his speech at the ceremony to deliver 15 electric vehicles to the municipalities of Coimbra, Mealhada, Mira, Cantanhede and Ansião, to be used by their respective primary health care services. According to the chairman of the board of directors of ULS Coimbra, at the end of last year 20 vacancies were opened, “covering three municipalities that until then did not have this type of service, Vila Nova de Poiares Góis and Pampilhosa da Serra”, with a further 80 vacancies expected for this year, in addition to the 20 that will be created in the city of Coimbra.
The official highlighted the “extremely important” nature of these vacancies, which “are a way of providing care at home, preventing the disease from worsening”, but also “so that all patients who are able to return home can do so with the best nursing and medical care”.
